The HDZ cooperates with the university departments described below. Most of the courses offered by these departments count towards the "Baden-Württemberg Certificate for Teaching and Learning at University Level".
As part of the HDZ offers, members of the state universities can take part in individual courses of the department of higher education didactics (Abteilung Hochschuldidaktik) of the Zentrum für Weiterbildung und Hochschuldidaktik (ZWH), a central institution for further education and teaching and learning at the PH Freiburg.
The courses provide a participant-oriented teaching and learning environment that focuses on activities and processes. Furthermore, participants gain insight in how to plan these kinds of courses themselves. This way, the courses address the double role the participating teachers find themselves in. On the one hand, they can experience the different methodological approaches themselves, on the other, they can implement these in their own courses in their role as teachers and develop them further. The courses offered are equivalent to module II workshops of the HDZ.

The Kompetenzzentrum Medizindidaktik Baden-Württemberg, located at the University of Tübingen offers a comprehensive course programme for university teachers in the field of medicine. The goal is to continuously develop and improve the quality of medical education by applying interdisciplinary, problem-based and learner-focused teaching and learning methods. The content, format and scope of the didactic training course are based on and audited according to international standards. The two-tier qualification for teaching "medical didactics qualification I and II" corresponds to the modules I-III of the HDZ and is also part of the independent "Baden-Württemberg-Zertifikat Medizindidaktik".
The HDZ and the Kompetenzzentrum Medizindidaktik Baden-Württemberg recognise each other’s courses for the respective certificates and support each other in devising and implementing measures for the development of new structures.
