The new program for 2026 also brings changes to the Baden-Württemberg Certificate for University Didactics. The current changes affect Module II and Module III.
In Module II, courses could previously be selected from four of seven subject areas. With the new program, which will take effect on January 1, 2026, the structure will be reduced from seven to four subject areas. All four subject areas must be covered:
1. Planning, designing, and conducting courses: Focus on competency-based teaching, planning, structuring, and diversifying courses, as well as the targeted use of didactic methods and principles.
2. Advising, supporting, and assessing students: Advising and supporting students in courses, projects, internships, and theses; designing and evaluating exams.
3. Evaluating and reflecting on teaching: Reflecting on and further developing one’s own teaching, using evaluation tools, taking individual circumstances and resources into account.
4. Innovating and further developing teaching and curricula: Addressing current challenges in higher education teaching, developing practical solutions – from individual teaching situations to further development of curricula.
If you have already started the certificate program, all previous achievements will of course remain recognized.
In Module III, the previous six options for individual specialization have been reduced to four and restructured:
Option 1: Teaching development project (up to 72 AE)
Option 2: Structure and curriculum development (32–72 AE)
Option 3: Product development for teaching (32–72 AE)
Option 4: Individual development (up to 72 AE) with a choice between further development and reflection or portfolio.
The consultation with your university teaching department at the beginning of Module III and the written final reflection remain mandatory.
